S4IF will build upon the synergies between UNDP and EBRD as the two founding partners of this new network. Both institutions are deeply committed to equipping underserved populations with skills for the future and have a growing body of project experience in skills development. S4IF will bring thought leadership and programmatic guidance of UNDP and EBRD to translate, develop and disseminate best practice on inclusive skills development to inform actionable ideas at local level.

EBRD

Founded in 1991, EBRD aims to invest in changing lives across three continents by building sustainable and open market economies. EBRD regards inclusiveness as one of the key characteristics of a sustainable market economy and within the bank’s Economic Inclusion Strategy (EIS) and Strategy for the promotion of gender equality (SPGE), access to skills and employment are a key thematic priority area. Through its private sector inclusion model, which guided them to implement more than 150 projects on skills development, the EBRD builds inclusion elements directly into its investments across all sectors and regions, creating pathways into jobs and training for women, young people and rural populations.

UNDP

UNDP, formed in 1965, works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, and build resilience so countries can sustain progress while also helping countries achieve SDGs. UNDP has more than a decade of experience in building partnerships with the private sector in various modalities.

IICPSD

Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) established in 2011, supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and multi stakeholder-partnerships. IICPSD has implemented skills development programmes in partnership with MNCs, whilst handling private sector partnership platforms such as BCtA and Cbi. IICPSD also has a strong portfolio in research and development on skills development.
